Autumn Half Term Update

27 Oct 2021 | BY leekhigh

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope that you and your families remain safe and well.

We have now been back for half a term and the start to this academic year has been a positive one overall. We do however continue to operate the school in uncertain and often unpredictable times. Although there has been significant disruption recently due to very high levels of staff absence our entire school community has once again dealt remarkably with the challenges this has presented. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone, including parents and carers, for the patience, resilience and understanding that they’ve shown over the last two weeks.

As we break for half term I would like to remind you that, based on Local Outbreak Control advice, we continue to request that students and staff should wear a face covering when moving around inside the school buildings. We are also continuing to ask that students complete a lateral flow test twice a week every Sunday and Wednesday evening and will continue send text message reminders out about this. Please reply to this text once you have your child’s result. It is particularly important in order to try and minimise the transmission of COVID-19 into school after the break that students complete a test on Sunday 31st October.

If your child is showing any symptoms of COVID-19 keep him/her at home, and get a PCR test as soon as possible at a local testing site. The Local Authority is also still strongly recommending that if a member of your household tests positive for COVID-19, all members of your household should get PCR tests and, as a precaution, stay at home until they get their results.

From the start of next half term we will also continue to carry out enhanced cleaning, especially in high-risk areas and separate year group access to the dining room at break and lunch. It is also important to stress that everyone in school should continue to adhere to hands, face, and space.

I am pleased to report that the on-site vaccinations went very well this week. For those students who were unable to access these parents and carers will shortly be able to book vaccinations at GP surgeries, pharmacists and vaccination centres. A letter about this from Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care System is enclosed.

Thank you for your support.
I hope that you have a healthy, restful and enjoyable half term.

Yours sincerely
P. Evans
