It is important that every student is fully supported and guided through the process of planning for their future after school. We have a full programme of careers education to help our students develop the knowledge and skills needed to understand themselves, research the opportunities that are available, make informed decisions and move successfully on to the next stage in their lives.

The Careers and Enterprise Company (CEC) supports Leek High with careers provision. The role of the CEC is to link schools and colleges to local employers to help them deliver world class careers support for all young people by building networks, supporting Careers Leaders in school and using the Gatsby Benchmarks as a best practice standard.

Our careers programme is delivered through form time, PSHCE, special events, enrichment programmes, visits, assemblies and across the curriculum. To find out more about the Leek High School Careers Programme, you can contact:

Providers Access Legislation and The Bakers Clause

Providers Access Policy

This policy statement sets out the school’s arrangements for managing the access of providers to pupils at the school for the purpose of giving them information about the provider’s education or training offer.

This complies with the legal obligations under Section 42B of the Education act 1997 (the ‘Baker Clause’).

Leek High School Pupil Entitlement

All pupils in years 9-13 are entitled:

  • To find out about technical education qualifications and apprenticeships opportunities, as part of a careers programme which provides information on the full range of education and training options available at each transition point.
  • To hear from a range of local providers about the opportunities they offer, including technical education and apprenticeships – through options events, assemblies and group discussions and taster events.
  • To understand how to make applications for the full range of academic and technical courses.
