Curriculum
Leek High School is dedicated to creating a caring and supportive learning community characterised by strong and positive relationships.
Our core values of ‘inspire’, ‘believe’ and ‘achieve’, aim to develop all students as confident lifelong learners. These values are reflected in every aspect of our curriculum design and the opportunities and choices we offer students. Our intent is that the curriculum should:
- Provide students with a broad, balanced, inclusive and inspiring learning experience.
- Prepare students to achieve well and progress successfully to the next stage of their education, employment or training.
- Raise students’ aspirations and reduce social and economic disadvantage by providing enriching opportunities to increase their cultural capital.
- Develop a strong sense of community and belief in diversity through a range of spiritual, moral, social and cultural opportunities.
- Develop the literacy and numeracy skills needed for students to succeed in adult life.
- Ensure that all students can make the right choices to stay safe and be healthy.
Careers Education Information Advice and Guidance (CEIAG)
We are proud of the high quality careers advice and guidance provided in school. Students are offered at least one interview with a specialist careers adviser in the last year of their compulsory education. A number of events, integrated into the school Business, Careers and Enterprise Programme offer providers an opportunity to come into school to speak to students information about all of the post-16 options available to them, including further education, apprenticeships and other work-based learning.
Our independent careers advisor from Entrust, Alexa Kenneth, is available to offer careers support to any young person in Y10, Y11 or 6th Form who would like to talk to her via telephone or text on 07921 277443 or by e-mail on alex.kenneth@entrust-ed.co.uk.
