Our Governors
As a Multi Academy Trust a governance structure is in place to support and monitor all that we do.
Members
Members are the subscribers to the Trust’s memorandum of association and have the power to appoint or remove Directors. Only the Members can amend the memorandum of association and are responsible for ensuring that the MAT Board are compliant.
Board of Directors
The MAT Board’s powers are delegated to them by the Members. They are responsible for controlling the management and operation of the Trust. They are responsible for ensuring that it is solvent, well-run and that the schools are delivering the standards required. They are responsible for setting the school budgets and appointing the Governors in the Local Governing Bodies.
Local Governing Bodies
The Local Governing Bodies responsibilities are delegated to them from the MAT Board. The level of delegated responsibility is negotiated but is likely to include day to day operational management, student welfare, staffing (except for the Headteacher) and budget monitoring.
Each School has a Local Governing Body that works closely with the Headteacher and staff to ensure that they are providing the best education possible to the children in our care.
Interim Executive Board
The Talentum Learning Trust can replace a Local Governing Board with an Interim Executive Board. In such circumstances, the Interim Executive Board will assume all responsibilities usually delegated to a Local Governing Board. It will provide more direct support and challenge to school leaders. It may appoint Trust executive officers, or others, to assume specific and/or executive responsibilities on its behalf.
Leek High School Interim Executive Board
As at 21st June 2022, the Directors of The Talentum Learning Trust appointed an Interim Executive Board to Leek High School.
The role of an interim executive board (IEB) is to provide direct support for, and where needed any executive leadership of, a school on behalf of The Talentum Learning Trust (TTLT). An IEB is a committee of TTLT Trust Board.
On behalf of TTLT, it holds school leaders, and Trust Officers, to account for the improvement in performance of the school. It will ensure TTLT receives regular information on the operation and performance of the school. It is expected to affect the immediate recovery of the school, including, as relevant, by:
- Setting strategic and short-term objectives for the school
- Enabling rapid decision making
- Providing support & challenge for the school leadership team
- Building confidence among staff and parents in the school
- Establishing a strong platform for effective governance
